|U.S. Marshals Solidify Presence in the Four Corners Area|
Farmington , NM. -
The U.S. Marshals Service District
of New Mexico is extremely proud to announce the opening of a greatly needed office
in Farmington, New Mexico. The office, located at 110 S. Fairview Ave in the heart
of Farmington and was specifically designed to provide an additional area of service
for deputy U.S. Marshals and the South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT)
Taskforce. The office will serve as the command center for the U.S. Marshals Service
in the northwest corner of New Mexico.
The nearly five year project from inception to fruition marks a significant milestone for the U.S. Marshals Service and the District of New Mexico. SWIFT now has a localized area to operate, that serves the federal judiciary in the northwest region and of New Mexico and the four corners area of the United States. The SWIFT partners in the area include Navajo Nation Bureau of Indian Affairs, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Federal Bureau of Investigations, New Mexico State Police, New Mexico Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Department, San Juan County Sherriff’s, Farmington Police Department, and the Bloomfield Police Department.
Each year SWIFT apprehends an average of 300 of the most violent fugitives wanted on federal and state charges in the Four Corners area. The significant number of apprehensions made by SWIFT represents our unyielding commitment to pursue dangerous violent fugitives in an effort to keep our New Mexico communities safe.
