U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive After 4 Years on the Run
San Juan, P.R - The U.S. Marshals Service-led Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force have arrested Anthony Declet Rivera, aka “Chio,” who was wanted by federal authorities on a warrant issued by a federal grand jury.

According to the indictment, from March 2005 to June 2010, Rivera, along with other 27 defendants, intentionally conspired and agreed to import and to possess with intent to distribute more than 10,000 kilograms of cocaine and heroin and to commit money laundering.

For the past three weeks the PRVOTF worked extensively to locate Rivera. Wednesday night, task force members spotted the fugitive coming out of a restaurant in the San Juan area. They followed his vehicle for several miles, then blocked it and placed him under arrest without incident.

U.S Marshal Orlando Rivera commended the outstanding effort of the fugitive task force and stated, “This case is just another example of how the U.S. Marshals Service and the Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force will not rest to bring fugitives to justice.”

The Puerto Rico U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force is composed of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Puerto Rico Police Department, the San Juan Municipal Police, the PR Department of Corrections, PR State Marshals and the State Internal Revenue Service.
