U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrested New York Gang Member in Dunmore on Murder Charge
Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced that the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested Waverly Pleasant, 31.

On April 6, 2017 the Albany Police Department (NY) obtained an arrest warrant for Pleasant charging him with murder in the second degree. An outstanding warrant was also issued by New York State Parole for violations of his conditions of his parole. U.S. Marshals in Albany, NY believed Pleasant may fled to the Scranton, PA area. An investigative lead was sent to their counterparts in Scranton to further the investigation. Today, Pleasant was located and arrested without incident in the 1600 block of Electic Street in Dunmore. Pleasant was turned over to local authorities pending judicial proceedings and extradition back to Albany.

United States Marshal Pane stated, “The coordination and cooperation demonstrated by law enforcement in this case ensured that an extremely dangerous and unpredictable murder fugitive was taken off the streets. It is our top priority to arrest violent offenders, especially those who have no regard for human life. It is my hope that the victim’s family will find some measure of comfort knowing that the alleged attacker has been brought to justice.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers from the Scranton Police Department, Dunmore Police Department, Lackawanna County SWAT, Wilkes-Barre Police Department and members of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
