Suspect Wanted for Indiana Homicide Arrested in Lansing
Lansing, MI - A suspect wanted in connection with a 2016 homicide in Lake County, Indiana, was arrested by a joint law enforcement fugitive task force Monday afternoon. The suspect, Lacindo Luckett, 17, is charged with murder in the perpetration of a robbery, two counts of robbery and one count of auto theft in Lake County.

Luckett is accused of fatally shooting a man in Gary, Indiana, on Oct. 1. Another person, a juvenile female, was arrested in Gary and charged in the death several days after the shooting.

The U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, Hammond Division, began assisting the Gary Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff's Department in the investigation in early October. The investigation eventually led authorities to believe Luckett was in the Lansing area based on a tip. The Lansing Area Fugitive Task Force was enlisted to help track down Luckett.

On Feb. 13, task force members conducted surveillance at a Lansing trailer park. After several hours, Luckett was seen leaving the residence and getting into a vehicle. Marked units from the Michigan State Police assisted the task force in a traffic stop of the vehicle, and Luckett was arrested without incident.

Luckett is being held at the Ingham County Jail in Mason, Michigan, and will be transported back to Indiana after extradition proceedings are concluded. He is expected to appear in court in Ingham County today.

The Lansing Area Fugitive Task Force comprises state troopers and officers from the Michigan State Police 1st District, the Michigan Department of Corrections, U.S. Marshals, Ingham County Sheriff's Department, and the Michigan State University Police Department.
