|Task Force Arrests Cincinnati Murder Suspect in Mississippi|

Pete Tobin is pleased to announce that during the afternoon hours of
February 2, 2017, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task
Force (GCRFTF) in the Oxford Office arrested fugitive Cleveland Saunders
on February 2, 2017 on an outstanding warrant from the Hamilton County
Municipal Court, Cincinnati, Ohio for the charge of Murder.
Saunders, 21, was wanted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was assigned to a Detective on the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Section (CIS) and the U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST). On December 14, 2016 Saunders allegedly used a firearm to assault Jaron Lamar Steele in the 8000 block of Hamilton Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio. Jaron Lamar Steele sustained serious life threating injuries as a result of the assault and succumbed to his injuries. U.S. Marshals SOFAST received critical information Saunders was in the State of Mississippi. This information was then provided to U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in the Oxford, Mississippi Office. The U.S. Marshals (GCRFTF) quickly located Saunders in the Kosciusko, MS area and arrested him on the outstanding charges.
Saunders is currently in custody at the Leake County Sheriff's Office in Mississippi and will soon be extradited back to Cincinnati, Ohio. Saunders could face new charges from the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cincinnati’s SOFAST is a fugitive focused, U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state, and federal authorities including the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Colerain Township Police Department, Harrison Police Department, Newtown Police Department, Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General, St. Bernard Police and Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
