Unregistered Convicted Sex Offender Arrested in Charlotte
Charlotte, NC -.The United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) located and arrested Tracey Twitty this morning in Charlotte.

Tracey Twitty, 55, was convicted in 1997 in Essex County, NJ for kidnapping and sexual assault while armed. Twitty received a 35 year sentence and was released in 2015 without supervision but was required to register with the state where he was residing. Twitty failed to heed the court and state requirements and was living in North Carolina unregistered

After the passage of the Adam Walsh Act in 2006 the U.S. Marshals Service works in conjunction with state and local law enforcement in locating and apprehending non-compliant sex offenders.

The United States Marshals Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of the U.S. Marshals Service, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. Department of Public Safety, and Department of Homeland Security.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by the U.S. Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.
