Philadelphia Child Rape Suspect Arrested in Charlotte
Charlotte, NC - The United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) located and arrested Juan Morales today in the 3700 block of South Boulevard. A warrant was issued in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 16, 2014 for the rape of two minor twin girls. The offense occurred in June, 2014.

Information developed during the course of the investigation confirmed Morales fled the state of Pennsylvania two years ago to avoid capture. VOTF members identified Morales as a passenger in a vehicle traveling north bound on South Boulevard this morning. Morales and a female occupant stopped at the Auto Zone located at 3701 South Blvd., where Morales was then apprehended without incident.

Morales will be held in the Mecklenburg County Jail pending extradition back to Philadelphia.

The United States Marshals Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of the U.S. Marshals Service, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, N.C Department of Public Safety, and Department of Homeland Security.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by U.S. Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.
