U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Gang Member in Tobyhanna for New Jersey Shooting
Scranton, PA - United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested Taquanah Martin, 33, in Tobyhanna, PA. Martin is wanted in the state of New Jersey by the Newark Police Department for Aggravated Assault and firearm violations.

On January 24, 2016, it is alleged that Martin shot a person in the city of Newark, NJ. A warrant for her arrest was issued that same day. Information was developed in New Jersey that Martin may have fled to the Northeast Pennsylvania area. Additional information was developed and an investigative lead was sent to the Marshals office in Scranton.

On April 21, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers, located and arrested Martin without incident in the 2800 block of Fairhaven Drive in Tobyhanna, PA. Martin was turned over to local authorities pending further judicial proceedings and extradition back to New Jersey.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force places a high priority on fugitive cases in which there is the use or threat of violence against victims. Our community will not be a safe haven for those charged with such violent crimes.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel from the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, Scranton Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police and Marshals from the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
