Shooting Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force
JETFTF LogoPlano, TX - On April 18, 2016, the U.S. Marshals-led Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force arrested Anthony John Yanis on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On April 18, 2016, the Denton Police Department requested assistance in locating and apprehending Yanis and delegated apprehension responsibility to the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force. Yanis, a documented Sureno gang member, is believed to be responsible for shooting a victim during an altercation in a restaurant parking lot in Denton, Texas on April 15, 2016.

After a thorough investigation, information was developed that Yanis was staying at the Motel 6 on Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas. During surveillance, Yanis was observed leaving the motel and opening the rear hatch of a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Yanis was then taken into custody without incident by members of the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force and booked into the Denton City Jail. A search warrant was later obtained and executed on the Chevrolet Trailblazer. During the search, three firearms and a small amount of methamphetamine were discovered. The firearms and narcotics were seized by the Denton Police Department.

The Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force includes investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service, Plano Police Department, Carrollton Police Department, Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Denton Police Department, Flower Mound Police Department and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.
