Southwest Investigative Fugitive Team Arrests Three Fugitives Charged with Homicide
Albuquerque, NM - April 14, 2016- the U.S. Marshals Service in New Mexico, Southwest Investigative Fugitive Team, brought three alleged killers in two days to justice. William York, 30 , Michelle Freer, 46, and Steve Swayne, 35.

On April 13, 2016 Task Force Officers received a request from Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in locating several suspects wanted for involvement in a homicide that occurred in the City of Albuquerque on April 1, 2016. Task Force members began assisting with surveillance of several hotels in an effort to locate Swayne. During that time it was learned that York was located at Central Ave and Wyoming Blvd and taken into custody without incident. Team Members then attempted to locate Freer and she was consequently located and taken into custody without incident at Coors Blvd. and Paseo del Norte.

On April 14, 2016 Task Force members continued to look for Swayne. Task Force Officers were able to track and locate Swayne at Candelaria Rd in North East Albuquerque. As Task Force members were moving in, Swayne began to exit the hotel and he was taken into custody without incident.

Candelaria said, “The District of New Mexico’s, U.S. Marshals Service fugitive tasks force is pin-point precise in their uncanny ability to pursue dangerous and violent fugitives, which is well founded in its 226 years of existence. This highly effective force is multiplied with a co-dependency factor that consists of Deputy U.S. Marshals working in tandem with task force officers that represent local, county, state, tribal and federal law enforcement jurisdictions; and transcending from this collaborative effort is holding accountable those fugitives that have committed heinous violent offenses and by relentlessly pursuing and apprehending these dangerous fugitives our communities become safer for all law abiding citizens”.
