Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force Captures Two Dangerous Fugitives

PRVOTF LogoSan Juan, PR - On March 20, 2016, members of the Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force (PRVOTF) apprehended Josue Pagan Fernandez a violent fugitive from the south region of Puerto Rico. Pagan was charged and sentenced by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to twenty years for drugs and weapons charges.

During the early hours of Sunday March 20, members of the PRVOTF along with the Puerto Rico Police Special Arrest Unit, acting on information provided by the community, arrived at Los Matos Sector in the town of Ponce. Pagan Fernandez was placed under arrest without incident. At the residence a Glock model 23 .40 caliber, two magazines, 83 rounds .40, $1,349.69 in cash and an undetermined amount of marijuana plants and heroin was confiscated by state authorities.

Josue Pagan Fernandez was featured as one of the most wanted in the Ponce police region and is currently the suspect of at least ten murders in the same area.

During the late hours of Sunday, March 20th, members of the PRVOTF arrested Yaret Navedo Melendez one of the District of Puerto Rico Top Ten Most Wanted. Navedo was charged back in 2010 by federal authorities with conspiracy to distribute dangerous drugs and weapons.

Navedo Melendez has been a fugitive since 2010, last night members of the U.S. Marshals led task force arrived at Sector Villa del Rey in Caguas, PR and placed the fugitive under arrest without incident. During the intervention several items were seized by local authorities, including $460.00 in cash, different types of ammunition and an undetermined amount of drugs.

The Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force consists of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, Puerto Rico State Police, San Juan Police Department, Puerto Rico Department of Corrections, Puerto Rico Revenue Services and Puerto Rico State Marshals.
