Suspect Facing Capital Murder Charge

LSFTF logoSan Antonio, TX - Miguel Garcia, 19, was arrested yesterday by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the San Antonio Police Department Homicide Unit (SAPD), where it is alleged that Garcia committed capital murder.

Yesterday, members of the LSFTF initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Garcia. Through investigative efforts and extensive surveillance, task force officers arrested Garcia at a residence located in the 6000 block of Castle Hunt Road, on the northeast side of San Antonio, TX. Task force officers entered the residence, identified themselves, made contact with Garcia, and took him into custody without incident.

On January 26, 2016, Garcia allegedly shot and killed a man in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 8600 block of Fairhaven Street, in San Antonio. Reports stated that a group of men were standing in the parking lot and a verbal altercation erupted. The verbal altercation quickly escalated to bullets being fired. After the smoke cleared, the victim was lying motionless on the ground and the other men fled the scene in a dark colored car. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene from receiving multiple gunshot wounds. After a thorough investigation by SAPD Homicide detectives, a warrant was issued yesterday for Garcia’s arrest.

Garcia is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, stated, “As soon as the warrant was issued for Garcia’s arrest, our task force officers made sure he didn’t spend another day freely walking the streets of San Antonio. One more fugitive is behind bars and more arrests will be made.”
