U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests New York Fugitive in Puerto Rico
 
PRVOTF LogoSan Juan, PR – The United States Marshals Service Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force (PRVOTF) announces the arrest of 26 year old, Jose Prado, who was wanted in the City of New York for criminal sexual act against a child.

Prado fled from New York City to Puerto Rico days after the alleged crime. Information was received from New York law enforcement sources that Prado was staying with some relatives in the town of Vega Baja, PR. Members of the PRVOTF located Prado and apprehended him without incident. According to police sources Prado has twelve prior arrest including four for robbery. Assisting the PRVOTF during the arrest were members of the Puerto Rico Police Department Vega Baja arrest unit and members of the New York City Police Department.

U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, Orlando Rivera said, “This case is an example of how the U.S. Marshals Service, the Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force and our state and local partners will not rest to bring a violent fugitive to justice, no matter where they go or hide.”

The Puerto Rico U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Puerto Rico Police Department, the San Juan Municipal Police, the Puerto Rico Department of Corrections, Puerto Rico State Marshals and the State Internal Revenue Service.
