Pittsburgh Fugitive Captured After Attempting to Flee Officers

WPAFTF LogoThe United States Marshals Service Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force (WPAFTF) arrested fugitive Calvin Brundidge this afternoon. Brundidge, age 30, was wanted by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police (PBP) pursuant to two arrest warrants charging him with Robbery and a third arrest warrant on charges of Simple Assault.

WPAFTF members received information Brundidge was in the area of Federal Street near PNC Park and set up surveillance. At approximately 2:10 pm, officers observed Brundidge on Federal Street and attempted to take him into custody. Brundidge ignored officer’s commands and immediately fled across the Clemente Bridge. After crossing the bridge, Brundidge jumped from the bridge onto the Tenth Street bypass, landed on his feet and continued running. After being confronted by WPAFTF members on the Tenth Street bypass, Brundidge jumped into the Allegheny River where he was subsequently taken into custody along the shore with the assistance of Pittsburgh River Rescue.

Following his arrest Brundidge was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked for possible injuries and turned over to Pittsburgh Police custody.

The Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force is made up of the following: U.S. Marshals, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office.
