High Point Suspect Arrested in Greensboro by U.S. Marshals

Greensboro, NC – This morning at 09:00 AM, Joey Roderick Chapman Jr., a 32 year old, Black Male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the High Point Police Department. On May 20, 2014, High Point Police Department issued arrest warrants for Chapman for the crimes of Attempted First Degree Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Inflicting Serious Injury. It is alleged that Chapman assaulted Aaron Covington with a knife on the night of May 16, 2014 at 628 S. Elm Street. Covington sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the attack.

Members of the JFTF observed Chapman walking along Cone Boulevard approaching Yanceyville Street in Greensboro. Investigators approached Chapman and arrested him without incident. Chapman was transported to the High Point Police Department.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
