Serious Assault Suspect Captured in Greensboro, North Carolina by U.S. Marshals

Greensboro, NC – This morning at 10:30 AM, Melvin Catravious Wyche, a 23 year old, Black Male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Greensboro Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT). Wyche was wanted by the Greensboro Police Department for Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. On May 14, 2014 an altercation ensued between Wyche and the victim near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Wyche is suspected of assaulting the victim by hitting her in the head with a wooden stick, knocking her unconscious and requiring 30 staples to close the wound. The victim also suffered a broken shoulder during the altercation.

JFTF set up surveillance in the Smith Homes neighborhood. Wyche was located and apprehended without incident at 1302 Orchard Street, Apartment A. Members of the JFTF transported Wyche to the Guilford County Detention Center where he was given a $15,000 bond on this charge.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
