Durham Man Arrested in Murder Charges by Greensboro U.S. Marshals

Durham, NC – Last Friday at 3:45 PM, Kenneth Tyvon Jones, a 23 year old, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Durham Police Department. Jones was arrested on charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Investigators with the JFTF took Jones in custody at 2201 Morehead Avenue in connection with a November 2013 fatal shooting at Lyon Park on Lakewood.

On November 23, 2013, officers were dispatched to a shooting in a parking lot at Lyon Park on Lakewood Avenue shortly after 3 pm. When the officers arrived on scene, they found two males who had been shot. One victim, Quayean Tymeek Malachi, 20 of High Point, was transported to the hospital, where he died a short time later. The second victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
