New Mexico Top Ten Fugitive Arrested After 9 Years

LSFTF LogoMidland/Odessa, TX – Yesterday evening, Sergio Navarette, 38, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. On January 24, 2014 the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force received information from the U.S. Marshals South West Investigative Team in Albuquerque, New Mexico that Navarette was living in the Midland/Odessa area. Investigators determined that Navarette was working for a construction business under the alias of Carmelo Castillo-Mercado. Investigators discovered that Navarette had been in the Midland/Odessa area for approximately 5 years. On January 27, 2014 Navarette was arrested at his place of employment in Midland, Texas. Navarette was wanted for Failure to Appear-Trafficking a Controlled Substance. Navarette was on the New Mexico Department of Corrections Most Wanted and had previous convictions for Aggravated Assault and Shooting at a Dwelling.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas states, “The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force will be persistent in looking for those fugitives that attempt to avoid prosecution.”
