Homicide Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals After 23 Hour Manhunt

NOVFTF LogoCleveland, OH – Today at approximately 1:45 a.m., the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Luis Nitsche, age 23. Nitsche was wanted by the Cleveland Police for murder. The charges stem from a homicide that occurred yesterday at approximately 2:30 a.m. at Madison Ave. and W. 83rd St. in Cleveland. It is alleged that Nitsche walked up to a man that was sitting in a parked car and shot him in the chest. There was a female in the car that was a possible girlfriend of Nitsche. Nitsche was also wanted by the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department for attempted murder after shooting a man earlier last month on one of their properties.

The NOVFTF immediately started working the case after the Cleveland Police requested their assistance in locating Nitsche. The task force developed information that Nitsche was hiding out at an apartment near the 17400 block of Parkmount Ave. in Cleveland. Task Force officers made entry into the residence and found Nitsche in the apartment. Nitsche was arrested and transported to the Cleveland City Jail.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, “We knew that Nitsche was a violent criminal that had to be stopped before he killed another innocent person. Our task force worked relentlessly for 23 hours until they had their man. This should send a message to all the violent criminals out there that they don’t have a chance. If you commit a violent crime and try to run and hide, we will find you.”
