Task Force Arrests Winooski Fugitive in Poultney

Rutland, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service, Vermont Violent Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a fugitive who was wanted for Escape.

Christopher Carey, 22 of Winooski, Vermont was arrested January 14, 2014 in Poultney, VT. Carey was wanted by the State of Vermont, Department of Corrections for Escape from Furlough and has been a fugitive since 11/18/2013. Carey escaped from furlough by cutting off his GPS ankle bracelet and fleeing Chittenden County.

Carey has a history of assaults and property crime related offenses within Chittenden County. These offenses include burglary, theft, unlawful trespass and violation of conditions of release.

The arrest was a result of a culmination of investigative efforts by the U.S. Marshals Service in the District of Vermont as well as the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks and the Vermont Department of Corrections.
