Fifteen Year Run by Fugitive Comes to an End Thanks to U.S. Marshals Task Force

Memphis, TN - A warrant for the arrest of Gary Williams had been on the books since 11-15-99. Thanks to the efforts of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Force Regional Fugitive Task Force, that warrant has been served.

For several months task force members had been looking for Williams, who had warrants for Possession with intent to distribute Crack Cocaine and Resisting Official Detention. Even though the trail was long cold, investigators were able to develop several leads. Eventually the fugitive’s location was narrowed down to the 5600 block of Sycamore Ridge.

On 1-3-14 Task Force members went to the fugitive’s house and located him there. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the GCRFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
