Suspect Arrested on Assault Charges after Fleeing Alaska

Today, October 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. (Mountain Time), a Wasilla resident wanted on an outstanding State of Alaska warrant for Assault 1 was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Colorado. A lengthy investigation by the Alaska State Troopers-Alaska Bureau of Investigations, led to an arrest warrant being issued on September 27, 2013 for Michael Eugene Tidwell, 62. Based upon investigation by the U.S. Marshals Alaska Fugitive Task Force, it was determined that Tidwell was residing in the Del Norte, Colorado area. Tidwell will be held in custody in Colorado pending extradition to Alaska.

The Alaska Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security Investigations, Alaska State Troopers and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The objective of the task force is to seek out and arrest violent offenders with outstanding federal and state warrants.
