Greensboro Marshals Arrest Alleged Murderer

Winston Salem, NC – This afternoon at 2:15 PM, Timothy Jasper Wofford Jr., a 19 year old, Black Male, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Winston Salem Police Department. Wofford was wanted by the Columbus, Ohio Police Department for Murder, and for two Probation Violations on original charges for Robbery and Dangerous Drugs. Wofford is accused of purposely shooting the victim to death at 2776 E. 5th Avenue in the early morning hours of August 24th, 2013.

Through numerous interviews, Wofford was taken into custody without incident at a relative’s home on Lansing Drive. JFTF members transported Wofford to the Forsyth County Jail.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Probation and Parole Division and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
