U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Man Who Allegedly Strangled and Beat Pregnant Girlfriend

Fort Walton Beach, FL – The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force captured a Ft. Walton Beach Man earlier today, who reportedly strangled and battered his pregnant girlfriend. Andre Terrel McKinnon, 41, was arrested by the Task Force at the house of the alleged victim. According to police reports, on August 18th McKinnon hit the victim, Jasmin Soto, in the face and then began choking her so she could not breathe. He then stopped but would not let her leave the room they were in for several hours. At 6:30 a.m. the Marshals and Task Force members from Ft. Walton Beach Police Department, the Okaloosa, Walton and Escambia County Sheriff’s Offices went to the home on the 400 Block of Village Court and knocked on the front door. Ms. Soto answered and said she hadn’t seen McKinnon since the incident. However, McKinnon attempted to slip out of a back door where he was caught by waiting Task Force members. At first, McKinnon did not respond to verbal commands to surrender. Task Force officers then engaged McKinnon who briefly resisted but was handcuffed and arrested without further incident. Patrol Officers from Ft. Walton Beach PD also assisted in the arrest.

McKinnon’s charges include domestic violence by strangulation, aggravated battery of a pregnant victim which offender knew victim was pregnant and false imprisonment. McKinnon was booked in at the Okaloosa County Jail.
