Middle NC Task Force Arrests Third Suspect in Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Murder

Lexington, NC – This morning at 11:30 AM, Jerome Demarco McNeil, a 25 year old, Black Male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Lexington Police Department. McNeil is wanted by the Lexington Police Department for Felony Conspiracy to Commit Attempted First-Degree Murder. McNeil was taken into custody without incident at 1602 Bridge Street.

At 11:42 pm on June 4, the Lexington Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at apartments located on Jamaica Drive, which are operated by the Lexington Housing Authority. The incident resulted in Sonny Ray Clodfelter being hospitalized. McNeil, along with three other suspects, were wanted in connection with the alleged shooting. McNeil is the third suspect to be arrested regarding the alleged shooting. Laquanza Shanta Wilson, 34 and Michael Obrien McNeair, 24 were arrested earlier this month by the JFTF at a motel in Greensboro. The fourth suspect, Alton Raymel Carney, 21 is still at large.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Probation and Parole Division and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
