Scranton, PA – Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced that the United States Marshals Service arrested Arthur Spencer, a 20-year old man, in Dickson City.

On May 22, 2012, it is alleged that Spencer and four co-defendants committed a home invasion in Clermont, Florida. During the commission of the crime, the victim was shot multiple times. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

On May 24, 2013, an arrest warrant was issued in Lake County, Florida charging Arthur Spencer with 2nd Degree Murder.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force in Florida. Information was developed on the possible whereabouts of Spencer in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. U.S. Marshals in Florida contacted the Middle District of Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force for investigative assistance.

On May 28th, U.S. Marshals and task force personnel located and arrested Spencer without incident in the 900 block of West Lackawanna Avenue in Dickson City. Spencer was turned over to the Dickson City Police Department for processing. Spencer will be arraigned on the outstanding charges and await extradition back to Florida.

United States Marshal Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service’s top priority is to arrest violent crime fugitives, especially those who have no regard for human life. This arrest takes a murder suspect off the street.”

U.S. Marshals were assisted in this investigation by personnel from the Scranton Police Department and the Lackawanna County Sheriff’s Office. These agencies are participating members of the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Additional assistance was provided by the Dickson City Police Department and the Lackawanna County Probation and Parole.
