Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

Greensboro, NC – This afternoon at 3:40 PM, Darron Lorenzo Stephens, 34,was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF), the Greensboro Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and the Greensboro Police Department.

Warrants were obtained by the Richmond Police Department for Stephens for Attempted Murder and Use of a Firearm. It’s alleged that on March 15, 2013, Stephens shot the victim in Richmond, Virginia over an argument. The JFTF along with VCAT gained information on the whereabouts of Stephens using various investigative techniques which led to Stephens’ location. After a lengthy stand-off at his brother’s residence of 4218 Bernau Ave Apt. D, officers were able to make contact with Stephens, negotiate his surrender and was taken into custody.

In fiscal year 2012, the Marshals apprehended more than 36,200 federal fugitives, clearing approximately 39,400 felony warrants. Working with authorities at the federal, state, and local levels, U.S. Marshals-led fugitive task forces arrested more than 86,700 state and local fugitives, clearing 114,000 state and local felony warrants.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
