U.S. Marshals Apprehend Harrisburg Robbery Suspect
Bar robbery occurred in June 2012

Harrisburg, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) arrested Oneil S. Thompson III in Georgia.

Thompson, 33-years old, was being sought by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police for:

  • Robbery
  • Criminal Conspiracy-Robbery
  • Persons not to Possess a Firearm
  • Discharging a Firearm within the City Limits

It is alleged that, on June 13, 2012, Thompson entered S&D’s Lounge, located at 621 Wiconisco Street in Harrisburg. Further, it is alleged Thompson robbed the bar and its patrons of their money, jewelry and cellular telephones. During the commission of the robbery, it is alleged Thompson fired a weapon into the ceiling to gain the attention of the bar employees and patrons.

Thompson was identified as the robbery suspect. On July 27, 2012, Magisterial District Judge Barbara Pianka issued an arrest warrant against Thompson.

On February 9, 2013, the Harrisburg Bureau of Police requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania to locate and arrest Thompson. U.S. Marshals and task force personnel developed information Thompson had fled to the DeKalb County, Georgia area. U.S. Marshals based in Harrisburg coordinated their investigation with the USMS Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) in Georgia.

During the afternoon hours of March 5, members of the USMS SERFTF located and arrested Thompson at a Walmart Supercenter in Dalton, Georgia. The apprehension occurred without incident.

Thompson will await court proceedings in Georgia regarding his extradition to Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service places a high priority on fugitive cases like this one where violence occurs. Getting Thompson into custody was essential to all the victims of this late night robbery. The Fugitive Task Force worked hard to locate and apprehend him in less than 30 days, and did so in a safe manner.”

U.S. Marshals were assisted by personnel from the Harrisburg Bureau of Police. Additional assistance was provided by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department in Georgia.
