Man Charged With Kidnapping, Rape and Armed Robbery Arrested

Las Cruces, NM - On Monday February 06, 2012 the United States Marshal Service in Las Cruces arrested Amador Venegas-Diaz. Diaz is charged with Criminal Sexual Penetration, Aggravated Assault with intent to commit a violent felony, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Bribery of a witness. Deputies with the United States Marshals Service and Task Force Officers from the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office arrested Diaz Monday afternoon in Vado, NM.

The criminal complaint alleges that Diaz met the victim in a local bar and invited her back to his residence. After arriving at his residence it’s alleged that Diaz made advances towards the woman and when she refused Diaz took her at gunpoint and forced her to have intercourse with him. The complaint also states that Diaz stole the woman’s money and threatened to harm her if she told anyone. Criminal Investigators and Task Force Officer’s with the Marshals Service’s Southwest Fugitive Investigative Team (SWIFT Task Force) began investigating Diaz’s whereabouts after he failed to make himself available for questioning after the alleged incident. Diaz was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center pending his court appearance.
