Operation LASSO
Targeting Child Sex Offenders and Those who Harm the Community

LSFTF LogoSan Antonio, TX – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is announcing the completion of Operation LASSO (Lock Up And Secure Sex Offenders). The operation began on August 29, 2011 and ended November 4, 2011 with huge success.

In an effort to reduce crime, investigate potential Violators of the Adam Walsh Act, and clear local law enforcement agency warrants, the U.S. Marshals Western District of Texas, Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested 193 Sex Offenders throughout West Texas for crimes involving everything from Sexual Assault of a Child to Failure to comply with rules of Supervision. The Western District of Texas is made up of 8 divisions spread out from Waco to El Paso. Each division teamed up with local law enforcement to combine efforts in targeting the worst of the worst.

The arrests for the San Antonio area totaled 27 Felony arrests for Sex Offences and 241 for other Violent Crimes, as well as new leads that have been generated and sent out to other districts to follow up on. The U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas Robert Almonte said “The arrests that were made this week show the dedication of the men and women in our law enforcement agencies to protect our country’s greatest assets, our children. Targeting Sex Offenders and Violent Predators has been and will always be a top priority for our task force”.
