Juvenile Murder Suspects Arrested
Carlsbad, NM - On Wednesday June 8, 2011 Lincoln and Eddy County Sheriff’s Deputies and U.S. Marshals apprehended two juvenile females suspected of killing their foster mother. At approximately 5:00 am on Wednesday, June 8th Deputies were called to a residence at 117 Whitecat Road in San Patricio where they discovered the body of Evelyn V. Miranda, 53.

Deputies discovered Miranda’s body in a bedroom of the residence and found the two foster children who had been living with Miranda to be missing along with Miranda’s 2007 gray Honda Odyssey displaying New Mexico License plate 487PFD. The two juvenile females were wanted for questioning and were persons of interest in the investigation into Miranda’s death. Deputies form Lincoln County and Investigators with the United States Marshals Service developed leads that the two had fled to the Carlsbad area.

Deputies from Lincoln County and United States Marshals Service coordinated with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and were able to locate the pair and took them into custody without incident about 8pm on Wednesday June 8. The two suspects were booked into the Chavez County Juvenile Detention Center pending court appearances. US Marshal for the District of New Mexico Conrad Candelaria commented “due to the horrific crime committed by these suspects, an all intense effort by members of the Marshals Service, in a precise and coordinated investigation, along with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, pursued every investigative lead that spanned several communities within two counties.  This combined effort resulted in the identity and apprehension of both suspects”.
