Sex Offender Arrested for Failure to Register

Los Alamos, NM - On April 20, 2011, convicted sex offender Bruce Crousser was arrested at the American Legion Restaurant, located in Los Alamos, NM, by the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Department and members of the Southwest Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) Task Force.  Crousser was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service, for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.

On June 14, 2001, Crousser was convicted of Indecent Acts with a Child, Indecent Assault with a Child, Indecent Liberties with a Child, and Indecent Language with a Child, by the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, and sentenced to 36 months.  Crousser last registered with the State of Oregon, over two years ago, and was required to register annually for life. An arrest warrant was signed and issued by the U.S. District Court of New Mexico, on April 19, 2011.

This case was referred to the USMS by the Sheriff of the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Department.  The Sheriff received information from Oregon that the subject has been living in Los Alamos since October 2010 and failed to register as a sex offender with the State of New Mexico.  Based on the subjects’ violent criminal history, the U.S. Marshals Service accepted the case and submitted it to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The United States Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.  On April 20, 2011, SWIFT task force members traveled to Los Alamos and in coordination with the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Office were able to locate and apprehend convicted sex offender Bruce Crousser at the American Legion Restaurant.
