Third Luna County Detention Center Escapee Still Being Pursued

Las Cruces, NM - The United States Marshals Service in still actively seeking the apprehension of the third federal inmate who escaped from the Luna County Detention Center on April 17, 2011. Escapee Mario Martinez-Rios, 12/21/1980 is still at large and wanted in connection with his escape and to appear in Federal Court on his original Illegal entry into the United States Charge.

Mario Martinez-Rios has a criminal history involving numerous drug possession charges, one Felony Assault Charge and a Driving Under the Influence charge dating back to 2003. Martinez-Rios is considered to be a danger to the community and the United States Marshals Service is still actively investigating all possible leads in New Mexico, Colorado and the Country of Mexico.

The Marshals Service considers Martinez-Rios’ apprehension a top priority and will continue to dedicate man power and resources until Martinez-Rios is caught and presented before a Federal Court.
