Dayton, OH – U.S. Marshal Cathy Jones announces  the arrest of David Conrad Buelow , a sex offender from Dayton, Ohio who was wanted on outstanding warrants for federal violations of the Adam Walsh Act.

Buelow, age 62, was being sought on a warrant issued by the Federal Court in San Diego for a violation of the Adam Walsh Act after he fled Dayton, Ohio area in violation of his state sex offender registration requirements .  He was also wanted for local charges of failure to register and for violating his probation. Buelow was on the Sex Offender Registry because of a 1987 conviction for rape and subsequent violations of his sex offender registration requirements.

Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service determined that Buelow and a woman believed to be his wife had fled to the San Diego, California area and had not registered there as required by both state laws.  Information developed in Dayton was sent to investigators in California who immediately filed for a warrant charging Buelow with violating the Adam Walsh Act, a violation which could lead to up to 10 years in prison.

On March 25, 2011, a car registered to the female accompanying Buelow was located in Santee, California. A team of Deputy US Marshals was dispatched and the residence was placed under surveillance. In the early afternoon a man matching the description of the 6’ 5” Buelow was observed standing outside of the residence smoking a cigarette. A short time later Buelow and a female were observed getting in to the car. The surveillance team assisted by local police officers stopped the vehicle and Buelow was taken in to federal custody. The female was transported to a local hospital.

Buelow will be in the San Diego jail pending a hearing in front of a federal magistrate. He could then be extradited back to Ohio to answer the local charges filed against him by the Montgomery County Probation Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

“Information learned in Dayton, Ohio revealed that Buelow has no intention of following the law, has failed to follow it in the past and is a dangerous person to have on the street “ said William Taylor, Senior Inspector with the Dayton area US Marshals. “He is exactly where he belongs.”
