Calcasieu Parish Sex Offender Nabbed in Galveston County
Lake Charles, LA – Yesterday morning at approximately 7:45 a.m. twenty-eight year old Norman Stark was arrested on the Beach in High Island, TX (Galveston County) while sleeping in his girlfriend’s truck. Stark was Wanted by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Warrant Dated: 4/30/2010) and by Louisiana Probation and Parole for Probation Violation (Warrant Dated: 4/29/2010).

Early in September the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Lake Charles began investigating the whereabouts of Stark. Information received suggested that Stark was likely in the Orange, Beaumont, and/or High Island (Galveston) area. Also, the US Marshals joined forces with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit who had critical information about Stark’s location. Yesterday, Deputy US Marshals and Task Force Officers from Lake Charles and Lafayette along with agents from the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office proceeded to Galveston County, TX in an effort to locate Starks. Prior to our arrival, Deputy US Marshals from Galveston along with Task Force Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies from Galveston County were able to locate the truck that Stark was believed to be in; the truck was parked on the beach. Texas authorities approached the truck and identified Stark and an associate inside the truck sleeping. Stark was arrested without incident and booked into the Galveston County Jail.

Henry Whitehorn, the United States Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana, said, “The coordinated effort of all law enforcement to bring dangerous criminals to justice ensures that the streets and neighborhoods of Louisiana are a safer place to raise our children.”

The Western District of Louisiana’s Fugitive Task Force (WDLA) in Lake Charles is a team comprised of full-time law enforcement officers from the Lake Charles Police Department and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. Further, WDLA calls upon part-time TFO’s throughout its six parish area. Last year, US Marshals Task Forces throughout the United States arrested more than 73,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
