The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force Arrests Child Sexual Assault Suspect

San Antonio, TX – The United States Marshals Service sponsored Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Child Sexual Assault suspect 48 year old Leonardo Miranda at approximately 10:00 p.m. on August 3, 2009.

In June of 2009, Miranda was accused of sexually assaulting a minor child in Guadalupe County and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued. Miranda is believed to have fled his residence at the time of the assault in an attempt to evade capture and arrest.

The LSFTF has successfully partnered with the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office on many violent offender cases in the past and did the same on this one. While checking multiple locations, LSFTF members found Miranda inside a residence in the 1500 block of W. Olmos in San Antonio. Miranda was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “If these horrific charges are proven to be true, then the LSFTF and the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office have once again helped to make our community safer by taking a repeat offender off of the street. Those that prey upon children have no room in a free society. Hopefully the victim in this case will sleep just a little better tonight knowing the suspect is behind bars”.
