Major Violent Fugitive Captured

SERFTF LogoA major fugitive wanted on outstanding state charges for a drive-by shooting has been arrested in Dublin, GA by the U.S. Marshals Service Savannah office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. Marston Lawrence Tolin was listed as a Most Wanted Fugitive in Oklahoma and had been profiled on television there.

Tolin was being sought on a warrant issued in Oklahoma charging him with Using A Vehicle To Facilitate The Intentional Discharge Of A Firearm. Tolin is accused of pulling alongside a vehicle with several women inside and opening fire on them. None of the occupants of the target vehicle were injured in the incident. Fugitive investigators in Oklahoma had attempted to arrest Tolin after the incident, but he fled on foot and eluded capture at that time. The U.S. Marshals Service Oklahoma Metro Fugitive Squad, working with investigators from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, developed information that Tolin had fled to the Dublin, GA area. That information was relayed to the U.S. Marshals Service task force in Savannah, GA.

On 07/08/09, members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Savannah went to Dublin. Tolin was located at a residence and, after initially refusing to answer the door, taken into custody. Tolin is currently being held in the Laurens County Jail pending extradition back to Oklahoma.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.

The Southeast Regional Task Force Savannah is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, Chatham County Sheriff’s Department and the Georgia Department of Corrections. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest all types of fugitives. Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
