May 31, 2017 - The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Tito Arita Cruz, of Williamsport, Maryland. Cruz had been charged by the West Virginia State Police with four counts of Sexual Assault of a Minor in Berkeley County.

May 02, 2017 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Town Police Department, Shepherdstown Police Department and West Virginia Department of Parole, arrested Tyler Wynkoop in Kearneysville, WV. Tyler Wynkoop escaped from Pruntytown Correctional Center on March 31, 2017.

February 08, 2017 - Members of the United States Marshals Service fugitive task force in Baltimore, Maryland tracked down and arrested Tavon Blue in Columbia, Maryland without incident. Blue was charged as a fugitive from justice and awaits extradition back to West Virginia on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Drugs and Felony Fleeing with Reckless Indifference.

February 08, 2017 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. States Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and West Virginia Department of Parole, arrested Cody Silver. Silver was wanted by the West Virginia State Police on multiple charges of Sexual Assault in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse in Berkeley County, West Virginia.

October 26, 2016 - On October 25, 2016, the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the United States Marshals Service and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, teamed up with the Washington County Fugitive unit to arrest Devin Wiekhorst, of Missouri. Wiekhorst was charged with Homicide by means of Involuntary Manslaughter by the Texas County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri.

October 21, 2016 - On October 20, 2016 the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force comprised of members from the United States Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and West Virginia Department of Corrections arrested two fugitives in the panhandle.

October 21, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force is requesting the assistance of the public in locating fugitive Aaron Stamet of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Aaron Stamets was indicted by a federal grand jury charging him with various counts of Distribution of Heroin upon the completion of an investigation conducted by the FBI’s drug task force in the Eastern Panhandle. The case was referred to the U.S. Marshal Service’s fugitive task force for apprehension.

October 20, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force is requesting the assistance of the public in locating fugitive Shane Bradley, of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Shane Bradley is wanted by the West Virginia State Police on charges of Attempted Murder stemming from a shooting that occurred in September of 2015 in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

August 09, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the United States Marshals Service, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia Department of Parole, and the West Virginia State Police, arrested Barry Wayne Wilhelm Jr., of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Wilhelm Jr. was wanted on a Bond Revocation warrant for a drug distribution charge.

August 01, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force comprised of members from the U.S.Marshals Service, Charles Town Police Department and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested Warren Edward Brown in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Brown was wanted on four counts of Distribution of Crack Cocaine.

July 01, 2016 - On June 28, 2016, the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force - comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Shepherdstown Police Department, and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office - assisted the Martinsburg Police Department in arresting 13 known drug dealers in the panhandle area. One of those outstanding fugitives was Nicholas Ailshie, who was wanted on two counts of Distribution of Heroin.

June 15, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force is requesting the assistance of the public in locating fugitive George Fowler, of Martinsburg, West Virginia. George Fowler is wanted by the West Virginia State Police on charges for failure to update his sex offender registration.

April 13, 2016 - The U.S. Marshals Service and the West Virginia State Police teamed up to conduct sex offender compliance checks during the last month in the Northern District of West Virginia. During the operations, 1,971 compliance checks were attempted on 1,550 sex offenders. As a result of the checks, 1,414 offenders were found in compliance and 136 offenders were found to be non-compliant. Out of the 136 non-compliant offenders, 30 arrests have been made and 16 other offenders are being sought.

April 07, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Robert Foltz. Foltz was wanted on charges of failing to appear on a Child Abuse case that resulting in injuries to the child.

March 23, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Shepherdstown Police Department and Maryland State Police, arrested Thurman May, of Hagerstown, Maryland. May was wanted on charges of Attempted Murder stemming from an altercation in Baltimore City on March 16, 2016.

March 21, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force is requesting the assistance of the public in locating fugitives wanted by various area law enforcement agencies within the panhandle.

March 03, 3016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and Martinsburg City Police Department, arrested Michael Long, of Harpers Ferry, WV. Michael Long was wanted by the West Virginia State Police on charges of Attempted Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Burglary and Brandishing.

February 26, 2016 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and the West Virginia Department of Corrections, arrested Vaughn Hilliard. Hilliard was wanted by the West Virginia State Police on 5 counts of Sexual Assault and 9 counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

January 30, 2016 - On January 28, 2016, the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force located and arrested fugitive Dennis Knapp, of Baltimore, Maryland. Knapp was wanted for violating his probation in Maryland stemming from an Armed Robbery case.

October 29, 2015 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, with assistance of the public, located fugitives Earl Nicholson III of Gerrardstown, WV, and William Nicholson of Gerrardstown, WV. Nicholson III was wanted on charges of Probation Violation and Kidnapping. William Nicholson also had Probation Violation charges related to Burglary and Fraud.

October 22, 2015 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force is requesting the assistance of the public in locating fugitives Saul Williams of Inwood, WV, Earl Nicholson III of Gerrardstown, WV, William Nicholson of Gerrardstown, WV, and Albert Stanley of Martinsburg, WV.

September 02, 2015 - In September of 2002, Daniel Gonzalez is suspected of committing an armed robbery of the Applebee’s restaurant on Fox Croft Avenue in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The Martinsburg Police Department responded to the call and located and arrested Daniel Gonzalez. Gonzalez was able to post bond and was released. Daniel Gonzalez failed to show up for his next appointed court hearing and a warrant was issued for Gonzalez’s arrest. Task force officers in New Jersey were able to locate and arrest Daniel Gonzalez in Newark, New Jersey without incident.

August 26, 2015 - On August 25, 2015, the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and Berkeley Springs Police Department, arrested Todd Rankin of Hedgesville, West Virginia who was wanted on multiple warrants for Sexual Assault.

August 24, 2015 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force is requesting the assistance of the public in locating fugitive Kevin Silver of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Kevin Silver is wanted by the West Virginia State Police on charges of Failing to Register as a convicted Sex Offender.

July 28, 2015 - The Mountain State Fugitive Task Force comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police, Shepherdstown Police Department, Martinsburg Police Department, Charles Town Police Department, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia Department of Corrections and members of the Marshals New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force arrested Patrick Zephir, who is wanted for Murder in New York City.

March 30, 2015 - The U.S. Marshals Service and the West Virginia State Police joined forces and resources to conduct sex offender compliance checks in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. Operation Rolling Rock was an operation funded by the U.S. Marshals Sex Offender Investigations Branch. During the operation, 585 compliance checks were attempted. Out of these checks, 342 offenders were found in compliance and 48 offenders were non compliant.
