
U.S. Marshal Russel Burger |
Russel E. Burger was sworn in to be the 38th United States Marshal for
the District of Oregon on January 13, 2011, and was retained for another
4 years by President Donald J. Trump in December of 2017.
Marshal Burger serves on the US Marshals Advisory Council, US Marshals
Hardship Review Board, Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area
Board of Directors, Pacific NW Violent Offender Task Force Board of
Directors, and formerly as the Chairman of the US Marshals Shooting
Review Board.
Prior to his current assignment, Marshal Burger was the elected Sheriff
of Lane County, Oregon for 6 years. He began his law enforcement career
with the San Bernardino County (CA) Sheriff's Office in 1988. He worked
there for 6 years before becoming a member of the Oregon State Police
beginning as a Trooper and rising to the rank of Lieutenant/Area
Commander prior to joining the Lane County Sheriff’s Office as Chief
Deputy.
Marshal Burger received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration
from Oregon State University, and is a graduate of the FBI National
Academy 219th session, the Oregon Executive Development Institute, and
the Pacific Program. |
