U.S. Marshal Fernando L.G. Sablan was nominated by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate on September 26, 2019.

Marshal Sablan began his law enforcement career in 1976 as a Police Officer with the Guam Police Department where he quickly rose through the ranks and retired as a Police Major after having worked for 22 years. After retirement, he worked in the private sector as a Security Law Enforcement Officer supporting the U.S. General Services Administration and the Federal Protective Service. He continued in the private sector as a Special Investigator conducting background investigations supporting the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Defense, and the United States Air Force. Marshal Sablan returned to public service for 15 years as a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer and retiring in 2017.

He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy’s 181st Session in Quantico, Virginia, and a graduate of the Immigration and Naturalization Service Integrated Training, INSI-231training cycle, at the Federal Law Enforcement Center in Brunswick, Georgia, where he received the Director’s Award. Marshal Sablan earned an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Guam Community College. He is also a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, Inc., and is the recipient of numerous recognitions and merit awards, including the Governor’s Distinguished Service Award in 1997, for heroic efforts in the rescue of passengers on board the Korean Air flight #801, which was the worst air disaster in Guam’s history. is an official site of the U.S. Federal Government, U.S. Department of Justice
