ASSESSMENT:
All applicants will be initially evaluated for the DUSM position based on their
ability to meet the established minimum qualifications. The candidates that meet
these minimum qualifications will be scheduled for the two-part OPM examination.
Upon successful completion of the exam, applicants will be scheduled for the
structured interview process. Categorical ranking will be used to determine a
candidates’ eligibility for selection as part of this announcement. The entire
evaluation process may take as long as 10-12 months to complete.

Pre-employment qualifications, such as the background
investigation, medical examination, and physical fitness
examination, will be conducted at the time an applicant has
been given a tentative offer letter of employment. Tentative
offer letters will be given based on the agency’s hiring
needs.
All applicants who successfully complete the three part
evaluation process will be placed on a register.

EXPERIENCE:
The DUSM position will be announced at the series 082 at the
GS-07 level, and all applicants will need to satisfy the
specialized experience and/or education requirements for
this position.

and combine them. Combined totals must equal 100% to
qualify.
For example:

education (25%) + 9 months specialized experience
(75%) = 1 yr. (100%) specialized experience |

DUTY LOCATIONS:
The United States Marshals Service will be recruiting
nationwide. However, applicants will be selected based on
the region that they select at the time their application
was submitted via the USAJobs website. Applicants will have
the opportunity to select up to 8 districts and/or locations
in which they prefer to be assigned. An applicant may choose
any city and state pairs within a region, or in several
regions. For example, if an applicant selects only cities
and states within Region 8, they would only be considered
for duty station locations within that Region, and not on a
nationwide or region-wide basis.
For example: In selecting Region 8, or a city and state
pair within region 8, as your duty location preference you
could be assigned to any duty location within that Region to
include the Central District of California, the Eastern
District of Washington, the District of Hawaii, the District
of Guam, the District of Alaska, etc.)

The position will be filled
based on the needs of the agency. All candidates are
required to sign a mobility agreement and may be moved at
the discretion of the agency. All candidates will be
required to remain at their initial duty station for a
period of three years before they are eligible for
reassignment consideration.
