Brian D. Harrison was sworn in as the Acting United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas on August 27, 2026, following his designation by the Attorney General of the United States.
Acting United States Marshal Harrison oversees all United States Marshals Service operations in the Western District of Texas, including federal judicial security, court security, fugitive investigations and apprehension, sex offender and missing child investigations, prisoner operations, asset forfeiture, and service of process.
Acting Marshal Harrison began his law enforcement career in 1996 with 8 years of active-duty service in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer, K-9 Handler, and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agent. He later transitioned in 2004 to civilian federal law enforcement, serving first as a Special Agent for the U.S. Army CID before promoting through progressive levels of leadership with the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, and the Offices of Inspectors General for the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), rising to the Presidentially designated position of Acting Inspector General for HUD. During his career, Mr. Harrison also served as a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia.
Mr. Harrison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from American Military University and a Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law. Mr. Harrison is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.
