ABSTRACT: This system contains information pertaining to three areas as follows:

(1) reviews/audits conducted by the Office of Program Review in USMS district offices; (2) audits of non-Federal jail facilities to determine proper reimbursement rates for housing Federal prisoners; and (3) reviews/audits conducted by various entities outside of the USMS, e.g. Office of Inspector General, (OIG), General Accounting Office, (GAO), etc. Information relative to district office reviews includes reports of findings, recommendations and feedback from district offices reflecting corrective actions.

PURPOSE: The Office of Program Review conducts scheduled reviews/audits of USMS district offices to ensure compliance with established regulations and policies. They also conduct audits of various governmental entities that provide prisoner housing to determine appropriate reimbursement rates.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Records are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. Access is restricted to personnel with a need-to-know to perform their official duties.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Users are restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAMS: The USMS is charged with ensuring the effective operation of the judicial system through the execution of Federal warrants; the custody, housing and transportation of Federal prisoners; the security, health and safety of Government witnesses and their immediate dependants; courtroom security and protection of Federal jurists, court officers and other threatened persons; and the custody, management, control, and disposal of property and money seized or forfeited pursuant to laws enforced or administered by the Department of Justice. This system is an essential tool used by the USMS to ensure compliance with regulations and policies established to effectively and efficiently accomplish these functions.
