ABSTRACT: The Internal Affairs System (IA) contains statements of witnesses interviewed,
exhibits and reports of investigations prepared by the Office of Internal Affairs, USMS, on
findings of alleged misconduct by USMS employees.
PURPOSE: The IA system was created and is maintained to facilitate the investigation of and
preparation of reports on alleged improper conduct on the part of USMS personnel.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records are protected from unauthorized access through
appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include
restricting access to those with a need to know to perform their official duties, using locks and
passwords.
USE CONSTRAINTS: Users of the IA system are restricted to only those privileges necessary to
perform assigned tasks.
AGENCY PROGRAM: The IA system supports all internal affairs investigations of allegations
of misconduct of USMS employees.
SOURCES OF DATA: Data contained in the IA system is furnished by witnesses interviewed
during the course of the internal affairs investigation and any records provided by such witnesses.
