U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Attempted Murder Suspect in New York
Shooting occurred last month in Carlisle

Harrisburg, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Task Force arrested Robert Gilmore, a 19-year old man, in New York City.

Gilmore was being sought for a shooting that occurred on February 13, 2014 in Carlisle. It is alleged that Gilmore fired multiple shots into a crowd of people on Pomfret Street. One of those shots struck a 16-year old female in the head. This victim sustained a traumatic wound to her head, but survived. On March 7, an arrest warrant was issued charging Gilmore with:

  • Criminal Attempt – Murder of the first degree
  • Conspiracy – Murder of the first degree
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Firearms not to be carried without a license
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person

At the request of the Carlisle Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania began investigating the whereabouts of Gilmore. U.S. Marshals developed information which indicated Gilmore may have fled to the New York City area. U.S. Marshals based in Harrisburg sent an investigative lead to the USMS New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Earlier today, Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers located and arrested Gilmore in New York City. He was turned over to the New York City Police Department for processing. He awaits court proceedings concerning his extradition back to Pennsylvania.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “Our top priority is to arrest violent offenders. This arrest takes an attempted murder suspect off the street. It is my sincere hope that this will bring the victim some measure of justice.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel from the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole and the Dauphin County Adult Probation Office. These agencies are participating members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Additional assistance was provided by the USMS New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and its members.

The concept of all USMS-led fugitive task forces is to seek out and arrest the nation’s most dangerous offenders.
