|U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Another Homicide Suspect After Receiving Tip|
Cleveland, OH – Today, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), with the assistance of the Garfield Heights Police, arrested Robert Mahone, age 19. Mahone was wanted by the Cleveland Police Department (CPD) for aggravated murder. The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the Marathon Gas Station on Woodland and 55th. Mahone and the victim got into an argument inside the Marathon and security told them to leave the store. Once outside, Mahone and the victim continued to argue. The victim then tried to punch Mahone. Mahone then allegedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot the victim several times in the head and chest at point blank range killing him. Mahone ran from the scene on foot.
The NOVFTF received a tip phoned in from a concerned citizen that Mahone was at in an apartment near the 4900 block of E. 141st St. in Garfield Heights. Task Force members went to the apartment and located Mahone inside. Mahone was arrested and transported to the CPD Central Processing Unit.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, “Time and time again citizens step up and help law enforcement get a dangerous criminal off the street. In doing so, they help make the city safer for everyone.”
