Sex Offender Captured and Facing Multiple Charges

LSFTF LogoSan Marcos, TX – Angel Gabriel Aleman, 33, was arrested this morning by the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in San Marcos, TX. Arrest warrants were issued pursuant to investigations by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), where it is alleged that Aleman failed to comply with sex offender registration and by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), where it is alleged that Aleman failed to appear on burglary and theft charges.

On November 7, 2013, the LSFTF was contacted by the CCSO for assistance in locating and apprehending Aleman. This morning, task force officers, through investigative efforts, determined that Aleman was hiding out at a Knights Inn Hotel in San Marcos, TX. Task force officers conducted a brief surveillance and observed Aleman exit a hotel room. Task force officers identified themselves, made contact with Aleman, and took him into custody without incident.

In 1999, Aleman was convicted and sentenced to 5 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) prison for committing indecency with a child through sexual contact. Upon his release from prison, Aleman was ordered to comply with sex offender registration which he allegedly violated in October of this year. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was listed as 1 of Comal County’s 10 most-wanted fugitives.

In January of this year, Aleman was indicted in Guadalupe County on 2 separate counts involving burglary of a habitation and 1 count involving theft. Aleman was released on bond and ordered to appear in all court proceedings. Aleman allegedly violated the conditions of his bond when he failed to appear before a judge in the Guadalupe County District Court. A warrant was issued for his arrest in early September. If convicted, Aleman faces imprisonment of 2 to 20 years on the burglary charges and 180 days to 2 years on the theft charge.

Aleman is currently being held in custody at the Comal County Jail and could possibly face additional charges.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, stated, “Extraordinary job by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for tracking Aleman down. From one county to the next, task force officers stayed on his heels and now he will finally answer to the crimes he allegedly committed.”
