Another N.H. Fugtive of the Week arrested in Massachusetts

CONCORD, N.H. - 'Fugitive of the Week' Andre Garcia, 23 who’s was last known address was in Dorchester, Mass., was arrested this morning in Swansea, Mass.

Garcia was being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Belknap County Superior Court for failure to appear on multiple charges including; two counts of possession with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine, as well as the possession of marijuana. The Belknap County Sheriff’s Office had requested the assistance of the task force to help in the location and arrest of Garcia in April of this year.

As part of this investigation, Garcia was aired as the 'Fugitive of the Week' on April 25, 2013. The 'Fugitive of the Week' is broadcast on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph and prominently featured on the internet.

Fortunately today an officer in Swansea, Mass. encountered Garcia as a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop. A routine check of Garcia’s identification produced information regarding Garcia’s fugitive status in N.H. Garcia was taken into custody without incident. After his arrest, Garcia was transported to the Swansea Police Department for processing as a fugitive from justice on the outstanding N.H. arrest warrant. Garcia will have his initial court appearance as a fugitive from justice in Fall River District Court today. Garcia will be detained following this appearance at the Bristol County Jail pending his return to N.H. to face these serious charges.

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 5,523 arrests (updated 09/03/2013). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 7 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
