PA - Arthur Fryer, age 61, formerly of Pittsburgh, was arrested this
morning by the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional
Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF) in Brooklyn, NY.
Fryer, who also uses the alias of Butch Johnson, was wanted on charges of
Rape, Aggravated Assault, Indecent Assault, Robbery and Burglary by the
Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
These charges stemmed from a November 1992 incident where a male forcibly
entered the home of a female victim, choked and raped her before fleeing.
Pittsburgh Police Sex Assault detectives recently identified Fryer as a
suspect in the case and requested the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task
Force (WPAFTF) to assist in locating him.
Investigation by members of the WPAFTF developed information that Fryer may
be residing at an address in Brooklyn, New York and forwarded this lead to
the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. As a direct result
NY/NJ RFTF investigators were able to locate and confirm Fryer’s identity
and subsequently arrest him without incident at approximately 6:00 am this
morning at an address in the 1400 block of Prospect Place in Brooklyn.
