San
Antonio, TX – Frank Wainen, 37, was arrested Sunday morning by the New
York/New Jersey Regional Task Force (NY/NJ RTF) in Little Egg Harbor, New
Jersey without incident. An arrest warrant was sought by the New Braunfels
Police Department (NBPD), where it is alleged that Wainen committed
interference with child custody, by kidnapping his 8 month old son.
On February 22, 2013, the NBPD contacted the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF)
to assist in the search for Wainen. Task force officers determined that
Wainen fled from Texas to New Jersey. The LSFTF contacted the NY/NJ RTF for
assistance in locating and apprehending Wainen. On February 24, 2013,
members of the NY/NJ RTF determined that Wainen was hiding out in a home
located in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Task force officers entered the
residence and Wainen was immediately arrested. Wainen’s 8 month old son was
found unharmed and was taken into custody by Child Protective Services.
Wainen will be extradited back to New Braunfels to face state charges.
Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas,
stated, “I’m proud of the joint efforts of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force
and the New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force for locating and
apprehending Wainen as quickly as they did. More importantly, the child was
found unharmed and is now in safe hands.”
